I had a 2005 Harley Sportster 883 Custom, that I bought new, and I averaged 47 in the city and 50 on the highway.

anywhere from 45-50 mpg depending on how you ride it, what altitude you ride at etc.

The stock sportster gets between 40-50 mpg,now if you ride it like you stole it and have all the screamin eagle add ons plus a windshield and fully stocked saddle bags and the ol’lady on the back,LOL. You very well could get 35 to 45 mpg…like mine !

the lowest i got was about 51, on the last all-day ride i did, i was getting an average of 53, with a peak of 56 mpg. riding hard on hilly and twisty terrain dropped the mileage a little, but on the way home, i didnt have to check level till i got home, and that was a good 140 mile ride 1 way. mine is all stock, carburated ‘05 1200, and i use premium gas.
