D C asked:
I am looking for either a Harley, or an American bike like a harley for around $2500. What are the options? If any?

A VERY BAD CASE OF THE “BASKET BIKE” .. YOU’RE NOT GOING TO FIND MUCH FOR 2500 WITH A HARLEY BADGE STILL ATTACHED TO IT. AT LEAST NOT ALL OF IT.. MAYBE A 1/4 OR SO.

probably something that needs A LOT of work.
or if you get really lucky and find someone that’s practically trying to give it away.
if you do somehow get that lucky then you better jump on it quick or else I might beat you to it

You’ll find those Italian (AMF) Harley dirt bikes from about 1970 for that price. The company was sump’in like “Armucci”. Good Luck !

I would say that your best option would be to hold on to that $2500.00 and save up some more to add to it. What the others are telling you is pretty straight. For around $3500-$4000 you might get lucky and find an older 883 Sportster that would actually be road ready. The key word here is LUCKY. The only other American bike out there right now is the Victory, and you aren’t in their price range either. There’s nothing wrong with a good Jap bike to hold you over till you can get the Harley. We’ve all been there. Good luck!

Possibly could still get an older sporty for that price yet Or A bank repo or something that is an ins company total check cranky ape.com at & see what they have available.& if you find something you like put a bid on it. Who knows you may get lucky & get a fairly decent bike real cheap

That won’t buy you much Harley unless you get lucky and find someone dumping a bike just to get rid of it. Maybe a repo from bank or credit union. A friend of mine recently bought a bare frame with title for $2000 and was glad to get it.
You might get lucky if you shop around and aren’t too picky to start with.
Wish you luck. Ride careful, ride longer………

A 1:38 scale model.
Maybe a really beat-up used junker H-D…
Save up a little longer and start looking for something around $ 7 grand.

You can probably find an old ironhead for that, it might not be pretty, but I’ve seen running bikes that cheap. Check craiglist

Try craigslist.org in your area.
Here’s what I found using $2500 as the upper limit:
Some of those are duplicates of the same ‘79 Sportster, dropping in price. I left the duplicates because not all had pics…
Other than an old Sporty (that may need work) all you’re likely to find is a basket case.
Good luck.

well , just like your bias to bikes,,your options in that price range are very limited, if you really want a bike quit bein a poser and just get a bike, you can find a used honda that looks and sounds just like a harley, and will run for 40 years like a honda.
